The beginning of the holiday season in Redding is marked by the Mark Twain Library Art Show and Preview Gala. For 10 days the Library is transformed into a gallery that displays works of art from over 100 artists. The Preview Gala kicks off the show and is held on the first Friday in December; the artwork is on display and available for purchase during the week that follows.
This is a juried art show of two-dimensional works in such media as oil, watercolor and pastel, and three-dimensional work in metal, wood, ceramic, etc.; photographs are not included at this time. In late September, information on how to enter will be posted on the website. Art pieces are submitted and judged the first Wednesday in December. Artists donate one third of the purchase price of their artwork to the library.
The preview party is always a gala event. Invitations
to purchase tickets to this party are sent only to those people
who are current "Friends of the Library".
