Annual Appeal

Contributions to the Annual Appeal are accepted at any time during the year to help fund our collections, programs and services, as well as the general operation of the Library. Every gift, regardless of size, is welcomed and needed! Those who make a gift become both a “Friend of the Library,” and a member of the Mark Twain Library Association for the twelve months following the date of their donation. As a member of the Association, a donor will receive an invitation to the Library’s Annual Meeting at the end of the fiscal year in June, and an opportunity to purchase tickets to the December Art Show Preview Party in advance.

Every day, hundreds of people – from strollers to seniors, in person and online – benefit from the Mark Twain Library. They attend a stimulating program, they make a new friend at Story Time, they grab a riveting novel or a new bedtime story, they download and get hooked on a TV series, they stop in to connect to WiFi…and so much more.

All for free.

None of this would be possible without help from neighbors like you. Your support is the only way this magic can continue.

We are an Association library, not a Municipal one. The Town of Redding provides an annual grant to cover 60% of our operating budget. So, every year we cross our fingers and hope that volunteer-generated events and this Appeal will bring in the remainder. That amounts to $400,000 – just to make ends meet.

The Mark Twain Library provides our rural little hamlet with a public square; an irrepressible boost of intellectual and social enhancement, ever adapting to meet the needs of our community. It is our collective responsibility to ensure the library’s place in the unique fabric that is Redding. We need you. Your gift – of any amount – will help make your Library even better for YOU!
