A Mark Twain Christmas
Part III: History Close to Home

For the Art Show’s 50th Golden Anniversary, Redding Town Co-Historians Brent Colley and Bruce Nelson join us to share some intriguing stories of Redding’s own Connecticut Yankee, Mark Twain! Topics will include: Helen Keller’s 1909 Holiday Visit, The Christmas Elephant, The Stormfield Burglary, the Creation of Redding’s Public Library, Clara’s Wedding, Angelfish, Twain’s Glorious Arrival and Final days, and much, much more.

After the talk, join us for a reception to celebrate the 2022 Art Show — it’s a final chance to see the artworks and to meet the artists! The JBHS Chamber Singers will be getting us in the holiday mood and refreshments will be served.

History Close to Home is an occasional series delving into the unique and fascinating history of both Redding and the Nutmeg State. Whether you’re a newcomer to Redding, or an old-timer, this series offers opportunities to learn more about our collective stories and shared past.
