Registration required below. Calling all poets and poetry lovers! The Mark Twain Library is hosting a series of poetry seminars for middle schoolers. During these seminars, we will discuss the intersection of poetry and activism, read the works of trailblazing poets, understand helpful tools for writing and reciting poetry, as well as carve out time for students to craft their own poems. No prior experience is required to attend these workshops, and you can attend just one workshop, or multiple workshops. Please register for each workshop that you plan to attend.
The program will meet on the following days (all Sundays): 10/2, 11/6, 12/4. Registration is limited to 10 participants. In January, we will host a poetry reading to encourage students in the seminar (as well as anyone else who would like to participate) to share their work with a larger audience.
About the workshop leader: A high school junior in New York City, Anisha is an avid reader and is very passionate about writing (particularly poetry) and is an active member of her school’s poetry club. In 2021, she received the Scholastic Silver Key Award for her poetry and is an alumna of the Kenyon Review Young Writers Summer Program. Anisha is very enthusiastic about this program and is excited to discuss poetry!
