This fall join us for a special opportunity to learn about many of America’s favorite films.  This virtual two-part series on American films will be presented by Marc Lapadula, noted professor of film studies at Yale University, screenwriter, and producer.

The September program will analyze an impressive array of classic films as we delve into the oftentimes turbulent historical time period in which these movies were made. While most works of cinema are produced solely and too often “soullessly” for mass-consumption and mindless escapism, a peculiar minority have exerted a profound influence on our culture. Whether intentionally or not, some movies have brought complex social issues to light, changed laws, promoted heated political debate, altered basic human behavior and changed the course of American History through their resounding and lasting impact on society.  The Jazz Singer,  I Am a Fugitive From a Chain GangThe GraduateEasy RiderJaws and other movies will be examined via edited film clips.

The program will be hosted via Zoom.  Registered participants will receive an invitation on the day of the program. Include your cell phone number on the registration form and receive one text reminder, approximately 30 minutes before the program begins.
