Pamela Reese

Art is my passion, it’s who I am. I grew up in Connecticut watching my artist/sign painter mother paint seascapes, cityscapes, portraits, and also signs for the Ritz Ballroom. I would sit by her, drawing my own version of her scene.

After receiving a BA in Fine Arts, I continued studying at the School of Visual Arts, the Silvermine School of Art, and at workshops with various acclaimed artists. Having studied graphic design and architectural engineering, I was also an architectural illustrator for thirty-five years.

I continuously delight in painting landscapes or ramble-scapes – whether NYC cobblestones, country lanes, or sheep paths  – all of which depict my desire to hit the road for new vistas. Painting en plein air brings a compelling immediacy to the work, painting the local color with no time to chase the light. My oils and pastels also include still life, interiors and figurative paintings.

I am a member of Putney Painters, Vermont, started by Richard Schmid, a painting group of dedicated New England artists. We meet several times a month with a model, still life or painting en plein air. This group inspires my creativity and stimulates great art discussions…with some dancing thrown in.

We moved to Redding in 1985, and I first entered the Mark Twain Library Art Show in 1987. I began helping on delivery day in 1989, and then in 1990 was asked to lead the Artists and Exhibition Committee. Those were the days of handwriting artists’ prospectus and mailing it via USPS. I even recruited my children to collate and stuff the envelopes.

Kathy Anderson

Kathy Anderson is best known for her unique interpretation of flowers and gardens, and intimate scenes of landscape. Working in oils and painting mostly from life, her focus is on a strong design and movement in the painting, keeping the subject as naturally as you would find it. Her style is representational, but goes a step further into reality, often depicting weeds in the garden, flowers past their prime, etc.

Kathy is included in many prestigious private collections, is a master signature member of Oil Painters of America, an artist member of the Salmagundi Club NY, and is in the permanent collection of the National Arts Club, NYC. She teaches workshops in the US and abroad and has three popular videos.

She was lucky to be able to call as personal friends two of our greatest contemporary artists– Richard Schmid and Everett Raymond Kinstler, both sadly deceased. She has spent countless years with each of them, soaking up their wisdom and life stories.

“I see paintings everywhere – every flower, rock, tree, dapple of light, sparkling waterfall – there’s no end to subject matter for an artist when your eyes are always open.”
