Snack and Study: Extended Hours For Barlow Mid-Year Exams (No Registration Required)

We invite Barlow students to come to the Mark Twain Library for snacks and a quiet study area during extended hours for mid-year exams. We will also have a therapy dog visiting! We will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on: Monday 1/15, Tuesday 1/16, Wednesday 1/17, and Thursday 1/18. Questions? Birth- 24 Months Story Time (6-Week Winter Session)

9:30 am - 10:15 am

Our youngest patrons and their caregivers will play and get to know other caregivers with same-age children. Together we will enjoy music and stories through singing, movement games, finger plays, nursery rhymes, and books. Older siblings are welcome to join us but the program will be geared toward babies and toddlers. REGISTRATION REQUIRED; space is limited Register once for the six-week session

2-Year-Old Story Time (6-Week Winter Session)

11:00 am - 11:30 am

During our 2s Story Time, children 24-36 months and their caregivers will learn and play together. Each week we will explore music and stories through songs, movement games, rhythm instruments, flannel boards, and books. Older and younger siblings are welcome to join us but the program will be aimed at 2-year-olds. REGISTRATION REQUIRED; space is limited Register once for the 6-week session.

3 & 4-Year-Old Story Time (6-Week Winter Session)

1:30 pm - 2:10 pm

This is an energetic and interactive 40-minute program for independent 3-and-4 year-olds since they will attend story time without their caregiver.  We will share books, music, movement, stories, and crafts. 3 & 4-Year-Old Winter Story Time meets once a week for 6 weeks. Please register if you intend for your child to attend many of the 6 sessions. Registering once automatically enrolls you for all the sessions. Let’s Talk : Modern Motherhood (In-Person)

Registration Required Below Library Director Erin Dummeyer sits down for a no-holds-barred conversation on the triumphs and travails of modern motherhood with Carolyn Prusa, author of the funny and irreverent novel None Of This Would Have Happened If Prince Were Alive. Hear the unvarnished truth about juggling marriage, kids, jobs... and everything else (!) in the tumultuous 2020s during this informal chat between two women who are in the midst of the chaos. Grab a friend and join us to commiserate! Wine and tidbits will be served. A book sale and signing will be held after the program. Books are also available to borrow at the Library. Our Presenters: Carolyn Prusa is a Redding resident and published author. Her most recent book has been called "Wry, charming and all too real..." The story centers on Ramona, a woman dealing with a bratty boss, a toddler teetering through toilet training, a critical mother and  oops! turns out her husband has been cheating. Prusa has written for Savannah Magazine, the Charlotte Observer and other publications. Erin Dummeyer has been the director of the Mark Twain Library since 2022. Previously, Erin oversaw two branches at the Ferguson Library in Stamford and was the Head of Adult Programming at Darien Library. A leader in her field, Erin frequently gives talks about current library issues and in 2014, she was named a "Mover & Shaker" by Library Journal.
