A Stone’s Throw — Explore Weir Farm! (Off Site)

You don’t have to travel very far to learn and discover — this region is home to dozens of attractions offering history, arts and culture!

Mark Twain Library’s Stone’s Throw series highlights the very best our area has to offer. We’ll meet up at the destinations, and participate in FREE specially arranged, small group tours.

Registration is required for each tour and space is limited.

WEIR FARM NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK

LOCATION: 735 Nod Hill Road, Wilton

ARRIVAL TIME: 9:45 am

GATHERING SPOT: Upon arrival, look for the Park Ranger in a yellow hat – he will direct you to the overflow parking area and the gathering spot for our group.

TOUR DURATION: Approximately 45 minutes, plus additional time to explore the grounds. Participants will be divided into two tour groups.

Explore the buildings and grounds of the only National Park in CT dedicated to preserving and celebrating the life of an artist.

The park commemorates the life of American Impressionist painter J. Alden Weir. We’ll get an overview of the artist’s main house and studio, and get to peek inside a few of the farm’s outbuildings.

Afterward, weather permitting, visitors may explore the grounds or borrow art supplies from the park’s Visitor Center. Participants are encouraged to bring along a small picnic and a blanket — get inspired by the surroundings and create beautiful art!
