Join us for a special afternoon with acclaimed actors Michael Tucker and Jill Eikenberry, best known for their memorable roles on NBC’s L.A. Law.

Tucker and Eikenberry will share an intimate collection of Michael’s stories drawn from their remarkable lives together — stories about family, food, art, travel, horses, and the unexpected turns that shape a life.

The evening will feature five stories:

  • WORDS — About Michael learning to read and how that experience influenced him.
  • SPUDS — A tale about eating potatoes in Italy and the surprising ways food can shape a life.
  • FIGURE EIGHTS — About their horses when they lived in Big Sur.
  • COWS — A story about their life in Umbria, Italy.
  • JAZZ — About art, life, and the “divine chaos” of their lives.

Together, the stories offer a funny, poignant, and deeply personal look at two extraordinary creative lives. Come hear these two accomplished performers step away from their familiar television screen roles, and into a more personal world of storytelling.

The Allen and Helen Hermes Arts Series was founded in 2003, and is funded by a generous gift the couple donated to the Mark Twain Library. The mission of the series is to enrich the quality of life in the community of Redding by producing and supporting events in the visual, literary, theater and musical arts.

 

 

 

Our Presenters

Michael Tucker is an actor, author, and playwright who received three Emmy nominations for his portrayal of Stuart Markowitz on L.A. Law. His extensive stage and film credits include Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, Shakespeare in Central Park, and films including Diner, Tin Men, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Radio Days, and The Mighty Ducks Two. He is the author of three memoirs, a novel, three plays, and a popular blog about food and cooking.

 

 

Jill Eikenberry received four Emmy nominations, two Golden Globe nominations, and a Golden Globe Award for her portrayal of Ann Kelsey on L.A. Law. She had a distinguished Broadway and Off-Broadway career for which she received an Obie award for “Lemon Sky” and “Life Underwater” and a Drama Desk nomination for “The Kid”. Jill’s feature films include “Between the Lines,”  “Butch and Sundance: The Early Days,”“Hide in Plain Sight”, “Arthur,” “Something Borrowed” and “Young Adult.” On television – in addition to “L.A. Law”, Jill starred in the PBS series, “The Best of Families” as well as numerous TV Movies, notably the four-hour ABC mini-series “An Inconvenient Woman” with Jason Robards and “Chantilly Lace.” Jill co-produced a one-hour documentary for NBC entitled “Destined to Live,” which dealt with the emotional aspects of breast cancer, from diagnosis to recovery. “Destined to Live” was honored with a Humanitas Award.
