Join us for a presentation by the Alzheimer’s Association and learn how to communicate effectively with your loved ones who are living with dementia. Dementia affects a person’s ability to communicate, making it hard to convey their wants and needs to the people around them. Caregivers can learn how to use a person-centered approach to communicate more effectively at any stage of the disease.
Topics in the program include:
- How dementia affects communication.
- Using a person-centered communication approach.
- Tips for communicating with family, friends and health care professionals.
Presentation followed by a session with special guest Laurette Klier, founder of Nana’s Books
Laurette Klier, of Nana’s Books and a certified dementia practitioner, will share her experience of enhanced engagement dementia caregiving. Her approach focuses on creating art and literature-based books that are beautiful, engaging, and evoke nostalgia. The books include pairing nostalgic fine art and literature that persons with dementia and their caregivers can enjoy together. For more information about Laurette and her books visit her website nanasbookseries.com.
