Conversations in a Brave Space
Part I: Gaining Perspectives: Black Men in America with WCSU Associate Professor Qur-an Webb, MSW
This session will focus on the depiction of Black men in today’s society and explain some of the emotional hurdles they confront on a regular basis in both their personal and professional lives. Systematic oppression and implicit bias impacts both physical and mental health, and cultural mistrust often influences perceptions and affects the quality of relationships for Black men in America.
During this first of a four-part “Brave Space” series, our facilitator, Qur-an Webb, MSW, will discuss potential supports and share how these efforts might be linked to larger societal justice goals. Afterward, we’ll break into smaller discussion groups before reconvening to share new understandings and perspectives.
