Malware… phishing… ransomware?
As online threats become more complex and persistent, it’s important to keep updated on current methods of protecting online information… and who better to lead this discussion than a group of high school students dedicated to sharing their cyber expertise?
The students are part of CyberPatriot, a national education program hosted by the Air Force Association. In January, teams from Redding and Easton will deliver three weekly lectures covering a broad range of topics on cybersecurity. Participants will learn how to recognize online threats, and get tips on proactive steps to help safeguard online information.
Attending all three programs is recommended, but not required. Space is limited. Please register separately for each workshop.

Dates and Topics:
Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4 pm
January 17 — Part I: Choosing a Device & Internet Security — Factors to consider when choosing a device with the most appropriate software and hardware. Then, learn about the importance of having secure passwords and how to create and store them.
January 24 — Part II: Malware: Viruses & Anti-Virus Software — Explore how computer viruses work, and how to protect yourself from them. Also, gain a better understanding of anti-virus software, and learn the products actually work and those that amplify the problem.
January 31 — Part III: Internet Security — How to identify scams and viruses found in emails.
