Join author and cartoonist Em Sauter for a journey into hops, the seemingly magical plant that has been flavoring beer and aiding brewers for over a millennium.

We’ll learn about the history of hop, its varying aromas and flavors around the world, and see how hops are used in the brewing process.

Beer samples from Nod Hill Brewery will be served. Participants must be 21 or over to attend.

About Our Speaker

Called the “Bob Ross of Beer,” Em Sauter is an award-winning cartoonist and author based in New Britain, CT and is the founder of the website Pints and Panels, which focuses on drinks and education.

With an MFA in cartooning from the Center for Cartoon Studies, Em is an Advanced Cicerone®, has a WSET Level 2 in Spirits and Wine and is a BJCP-certified international beer judge who participates in high-profile competitions worldwide. She co-hosts the All About Beer podcast and has contributed to Forbes, Brewers and Distillers International, Craft Beer and Brewing, Vinepair, Outside, The Alcohol Professor and more. Her popular Instagram page has almost 92,000 followers and enjoys a wide global following. She is the author of four books on beer and is working on her first whiskey book.
