Discover the timeless beauty of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese technique of mending and embroidery that transforms simple stitches into bold, geometric patterns.

In this hands-on workshop, Catherine Karp will demonstrate how to use Sashiko’s signature “small stabs” to craft intricate designs on fabric squares, perfect for decorative patches or embellishments.

Choose from a variety of traditional Sashiko patterns; horizontal rows, tiny plus signs, linked steps, star stitch, rice stitch, or woven tortoise. The traditional method of drawing a grid and planning out a pattern will be taught. There are also new materials available to streamline this step.

All materials will be supplied but it will be helpful if participants bring a ruler and scissors.

Participants get to take home their project, along with a Sashiko needle and thread.

Attendance is limited so sign up early! All skill levels are welcome.
