Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, two top-ranked Scrabble champions, Mike Ecsedy and Cornelia Guest, will share tips and strategies to help you play Scrabble more effectively.

A retired JBHS math and science teacher, Mike is currently the top-ranked active player in Connecticut and Cornelia was named the North American Scrabble Players Association Person of the Year in 2018.

Our Presenters

Mike Ecsedy has been playing tournament Scrabble since 1998 and is currently the top-ranked active player in Connecticut.  Mike taught math and science at Joel Barlow High School  from 1983-2021 and served as the coach of the math team, chess team, and trivia team.  He is retired and lives in Brookfield with his wife Lynn and his rabbit Honey Bunny. 

Cornelia Guest has coached several youth teams in the National School Scrabble Tournament and was coach for eight winning teams, including the last seven School Scrabble championship teams. She was named the North American Scrabble Players Association Person of the Year in 2018.  Cornelia teaches a weekly youth Scrabble class at Ridgefield Library and lives in Bethel with her corgi Lacey.
