Looking for a fun new challenge this summer? Join us at the Library for a beginner-friendly introduction to the fascinating game of Mah Jongg! Equal parts strategy, skill and social connection, this tile-based game originated in 19th-century China and has been enjoyed for generations.

Whether you’ve always wanted to learn or are simply curious about this popular game, these sessions are the perfect opportunity to give Mah Jongg a try! The sessions will be taught by Redding volunteers Renee Pessin, Cara Shapiro and Jessica Reisch, who are also members of the Redding Neighbors and Newcomers Mah Jongg Club.

Important NOTE: Each player needs to purchase their own Mah Jongg cards, put out yearly by the National Mah Jongg League. Click this link to purchase cards.

There will be two separate 3-week sessions held on Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Participants are asked to sign up for the first class and attend all three classes in the session. Space is limited. Sign up early!

Session I: July 7, 21, and 28
Session II: Aug 4, 18, and 25
