Discover the beauty of silk painting in this hands-on Modern Makers workshop at the Mark Twain Library. Guided by a local artist, Ronda Lanzi, participants will be introduced to the techniques and artistry behind this timeless medium.

Each attendee will create their own floral design on a silk panel, stretched on an embroidery hoop, resulting in a unique piece of art ready to take home and display. Whether you’re a beginner or simply curious to try something new, this workshop offers a creative and welcoming space to explore color, pattern, and texture on silk.

All materials will be provided. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

About Our Instructor

Ronda Lanzi studied oil painting at The Loomis Chaffee School and later took courses in painting and architecture while completing her degree in engineering at Tufts University.

While living in London, Ms. Lanzi was a member of the Royal Horticultural Society and studied silk painting with John Farmelo, an internationally recognized artist, teacher, and member of the Silk Painters Guild.

In 2003 she traveled to Collioure, France to paint with other silk artists in a setting where the quality of light inspired Matisse, Derain, and Dufy, founders of the Fauvism movement.

Ms. Lanzi finds painting on silk an exciting and inspiring medium where the flow of color is even more immediate than watercolors. Ronda’s Garden markets her unique silk scarves as well as framed art.
