The Library welcomes back Artscapades for a captivating evening of art history!
Robin Hoffman of Artscapades discusses the history of fashion in art, focusing on works that highlight apparel — from the most basic garments to the most coveted attire and accoutrements.
Learn how depictions of clothing can point to many aspects of a culture — from social structures and gender roles to daily activities. The presentation will focus on works by Jacques-Louis David, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, James McNeill Whistler, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Winslow Homer, Tamara Lempicka, and more!—
About Our Presenter
Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman are the dynamic art history instructors behind ArtScapades. Jodi and Robin started their partnership in 1998 when both taught art appreciation. They have presented at libraries, art centers, and museums in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Florida.
