John and Beryl Kelly are co-founders of Bendable Body, an exercise method that focuses on root causes of pain and weakness to help people live to their full potential. The couple works in-person locally in Redding and throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties, and also in NYC and Washington, DC. Their online membership program, The Bendables, serves clients worldwide.Beryl has a degree in Religious Studies from The University of California, Santa Barbara and spent 14 years as a nun at the Vedanta Society, studying Hindu philosophy and practicing meditation. She said when she first heard about resistance stretching, it struck her as something she knew to be true: your body is a map of your mind.
Beryl believes the body can heal and people can empower themselves by stretching and transforming the body’s fascia. She said the Bendable Body Method is similar to meditation for your body. Beryl has 13 years experience as a flexibility trainer, and she said she loves helping people new to the method incorporate it quickly and with ease.
