Well before Covid-19 appeared, the world experienced a lethal outbreak of influenza that took the lives of millions. What was it like to live through the Influenza Pandemic of 1918? How did the flu impact society and what lessons can we glean about our own futures as the post-Covid era comes into sharper focus?

Natalie Belanger, adult program manager with the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History, will share the state’s collection of archival images, letters, and newspapers focusing on the Great Flu Pandemic, including sources left by Connecticut residents who experienced the 1918 pandemic first-hand.

This is a virtual program that will be held over Zoom. Registered participants will receive a link on the morning of the program.
