With the closure of key waste-to-energy facilities and no landfill capacity, Connecticut is facing a growing waste crisis.
Hear from Tammy Thornton, a regional recycling coordinator and educator with the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority (HRRA), about the current status of waste management in our state, and why urgent action is needed.
A key focus of Tammy’s talk will be on the importance of “Recycling Right”— understanding what belongs in the recycling bin and how contamination undermines the process. Learn how small changes in behavior can lead to big improvements in recycling efficiency and environmental outcomes.
Tammy will also discuss some innovative and practical solutions to reduce waste generation and how we can build a more resilient and sustainable waste infrastructure for Connecticut.
Learn how residents, municipalities, and policymakers can work toward a cleaner, more sustainable future!
