Visible Mending Workshop

HomeVisible Mending Workshop

Saturday, October 26

10:00 am - 1:00 pm

 Registration Required Below

Add personality to your clothes while saving the planet! Push back against the throw-away fashion trend, and learn how to give old clothes new life with visible mending.

Visible mending uses many approaches to restore old, used or torn clothing and fabric items. It’s both a creative process and a way to demonstrate a commitment to sustainability by reducing waste and pollution.

Join us as Catherine Karp leads an informal workshop, where she will demonstrate how to use embroidery, patching and darning techniques to restore and revive damaged textiles.

Community members are invited to bring their own items to repair. All materials will be supplied, but participants are welcome to bring their own scissors, needles, threads and fabric scraps.

*This is a small-group workshop and attendance is limited! Register early to reserve a space for this 3-hour session. Participants are welcome to bring their own snacks or a small bag lunch.

Our Presenter

Catherine Karp has been repairing items since she made clothes for her dolls and stuffed animals as a child. She teaches art to K-8 students and works with Art For All in West Concord, MA, teaching weekly classes to all ages. Catherine says she’s very happy that it’s illegal to throw out textiles in Massachusetts.  To learn more about Catherine and visible mending visit her website, www.ckrevive.com.
