In this session, speakers will focus on the topic: Made to Connect: Unraveling the Web of Minds, People, and Communities.

Each talk will explore how neural networks, individual actions and community collaborations have an impact on the world. This program will last approximately 45 minutes, followed by a 15-minute Q&A.

This program will be presented virtually over Zoom. Register below to receive a webinar link the day of the program. Include a cell for a text reminder.

Our Presenters

Samantha Gillis, a master’s degree candidate at Yale’s School of Public Health, studies the epidemiology of microbial diseases and global health. Samantha’s research focuses on tropical diseases and vaccine development.

Jonathan Pertile is a PhD student at Yale’s Anthropology Department. He studies the behavior and genetics of owl monkeys, a primate that lives in Latin America. His research takes place both in the field, in northern Argentina, and in the lab on Yale’s campus.

Halona Dantes is a PhD student studying physics at Yale. Halona’s research focuses on biophysics, particularly how living systems can be applied in the field of physics. Her goal is to use the tools of physics to understand biological systems, and use that knowledge to gain better insight into physical concepts.
