Join us for an evening of remembrance, reflection, and commemoration in honor of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day.

This special program will be facilitated by Dr. Shay Pilnik, Director of the Emil and Jenny Fish Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Yeshiva University. Dr. Shay will be speaking with Endre (Andy) Sarkany, a Holocaust survivor born in Budapest, Hungary, on October 31, 1936. Joining them will be Renee Bronner Pessin, a Redding resident and daughter of Holocaust survivors, and Aron Hirt-Manheimer, a journalist whose parents also survived the Holocaust. Together, they will share personal stories, family histories, and reflections on memory, trauma, and resilience.

This program offers a meaningful opportunity to hear first hand testimonies, engage in thoughtful conversations, and honor the memory of the millions who perished.

This program is part of the Conversations Series, created in partnership by the Redding League of Women Voters and the MarkTwain Library. This award-winning series offers opportunities to continue and expand conversations on race, justice and democracy. Community members can exchange ideas, hear differing perspectives and talk about our ever-evolving democracy.
