Volunteers

HomeVolunteers

The Library’s successful operation each year depends on the commitment and generosity of hundreds of volunteers!

From our accomplished Board of Trustees to the teenage pages, to the dedicated armies behind each fundraiser, all our volunteers are a valued part of our library family. Want to help? Here are a couple of suggested ways to roll up your sleeves for our library:

Fundraisers

  • Frog Frolic (A children’s fair, usually the last Saturday in April): Soliciting sponsors, preparing crafts, baking cupcakes…or taking tickets the day of the event, witnessing thousands of smiles on the faces of our youngest patrons.
  • Book Fair (Labor Day weekend):  Before the event, sorters and pricers are needed all year; contact Midge Loery or Catherine Riordan at (203)-938-2545. Volunteers are always needed for two-and-three-hour shifts at the fair (setup, clean  cashiers, etc.).
  • Art Show (first week in December): In the fall, sponsor sales, preview party prep. Transforming the library into a gallery—art hanging and sales week assignments.

Programming Committee

The Programming Committee schedules adult programs for the Library from September through May, and works throughout the year to organize them. To get involved with the programming committee, contact our adult programmer, Elaine Sanders.

Community Service

The Library welcomes Redding residents of any age who would like to assist the library staff with short-or-long-term projects. Please contact Erin Shea Dummeyer, the Library Director, directly, at (203)-938-2545, if you are interested in this on-site volunteer work.
