New To The Library?

HomeNew To The Library?

Hello,

Welcome to the public library serving the town of Redding. We are so glad to meet you and hope that our resources are helpful during these difficult times.   Since our doors must remain locked, the Mark Twain Library (MTL) is reaching out virtually with as many services as possible and with frequent colorful email blast updates about what is new and happening at the library.

We know you are being deluged with tons of information right now.  Please see our website www.marktwainlibrary.org for a more complete picture of what the library is doing and about our history.   Just a few highlights :

      • Like over 70 other libraries in Connecticut we are an association library operating with a grant from the town which covers some of our operating expenses and fundraising for about 40% of our operating needs.

      • We are proud to say that we are the 6th busiest library in the state in terms of per capita usage

      • We offer over 340 programs a year for adults and children of all ages – even babies and toddlers

      • Are you a Redding resident? Your library card is the key to many resources.  We have streamlined our process for receiving a card.  Simply Click Here or email Janet@Marktwainlibrary.org. You will be issued a card number and when the library reopens, you can stop in to receive the actual card.

      • And, we are the only library in the USA that can make the claim we were founded by one of America’s greatest authors – Samuel Clemens in 1908 when he moved to Redding.

Our email blasts will give you lots of information about our virtual programs and resources.

The staff would love to welcome you in person.  We look forward to meeting you when the doors reopen and to seeing you at one of our programs, browsing our terrific collections or meeting your neighbors at an event.

Above all, please stay safe and healthy,

Erin and all the staff of the Mark Twain Library
