HomeChasing Childhood: Public Screening & Community Discussion

Sunday, February 5

2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

MTL & Redding Elementary PTA presents:

A Special Public Screening & Community Discussion

Chasing Childhood

This compelling documentary focuses on the unintended consequences of over-parenting and how kids can benefit from a new “Let Grow” initiative. Parents can explore how to — responsibly — let go a bit, so their kids can gain new maturity and confidence.

This movie — for both parents and kids — centers around the lives of three families, each from a different environment: Wilton, CT, New York City and Long Island. It demonstrates how changes in education, over-emphasis on “stranger danger” and a culture pressuring kids into hyper-specialization, all contributed to an over-parenting trend and a corresponding rise in childhood anxiety.

Attend this special public screening of the film at the Library, and then participate in a community discussion on Chasing Childhood. Hear from other parents and kids about their thoughts on the documentary and discuss ways to encourage independence in our kids’ lives in a safe and responsible manner.

See below to register for the IN-PERSON screening and discussion at the Mark Twain Library.

*For those who would like to attend the February 5th community discussion only, please call Elaine Sanders at 203.938.2545 ext. 211 for information.
