Class I: The Best Way to Strength Train…That’s Actually Stretching

In this first workshop, John and Beryl will cover the fundamentals of resistance stretching, explain the function of fascia and tell us why it is the key to flexibility, strength and posture. We’ll discover a new way to strength train muscles, and experience both self and assisted stretching. During the workshop, participants will have an opportunity to ask about problem areas and learn the stretch to counteract the issue.

About Our Instructors
John and Beryl Kelly are co-founders of Bendable Body, an exercise method that focuses on root causes of pain and weakness to help people live to their full potential. The couple works in-person locally in Redding and throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties, and also in NYC and Washington, DC. Their online membership program, The Bendables, serves clients worldwide.
After working in New York City for years, John developed chronic low back paint, poor digestion and allergies. “After 10 years on Wall Street at Bear Stearns my body had enough,” he said. He spent 11 years as a flexibility trainer at The Genius of Flexibilty, immersing himself into personal health and wellness and helping clients do the same. He has extensive experience working with athletes at all levels, from NFL Football players and Hall of Fame tennis players, to Olympic skiers and windsurfers.

Beryl has a degree in Religious Studies from The University of California, Santa Barbara and spent 14 years as a nun at the Vedanta Society, studying Hindu philosophy and practicing meditation. She said when she first heard about resistance stretching, it struck her as something she knew to be true: your body is a map of your mind.

Beryl believes the body can heal and people can empower themselves by stretching and transforming the body’s fascia. She said the Bendable Body Method is similar to meditation for your body. Beryl has 13 years experience as a flexibility trainer, and she said she loves helping people new to the method incorporate it quickly and with ease.
