The Connecticut Nutmeg Book Award invites students in grades 2-12 to read quality literature and to choose their favorite from a list of nominated titles. The “Nutmeg Nominees” are announced on May 1st. The following April, children statewide cast votes to select one Nutmeg Book Award winner in each division: Elementary (grades 2-3) Intermediate (grades 4-6) Middle School (grades 7-8) and High School (grades 9-12). The winners are announced in mid-May.
The Nutmeg Nominees are great reads, especially over the summer! Teachers and librarians commonly discuss and share them throughout the school year.
