We all know that proteins are an essential part of a post-workout routine, but  they also play a crucial role in overall health. Proteins are the building blocks that support everything from repairing cells to keeping organs functioning smoothly.

Join Yale PhD candidates Delyar Khosroabadi and Halona Dantes for an insightful discussion about the vital role proteins play in the body. They will explore what happens when proteins don’t function properly, and how this can contribute to disease.

Discover the fascinating world of proteins beyond just nutrition—how they shape our health, and what happens when they go awry.

Science in the News is a student-driven initiative where Yale graduate students and postdoctoral researchers present complex and exciting science topics to the general public.

Our Presenters

Halona Dantes is a PhD student studying physics at Yale. Halona’s research focuses on biophysics, particularly how living systems can be applied in the field of physics. Her goal is to use the tools of physics to understand biological systems, and use that knowledge to gain better insight into physical concepts.

Delyar Khosroabadi is a PhD student in the Biochemistry, Quantitative Biology, Biophysics, and Structural Biology track at Yale. Delyar’s research focuses on developing new methods to study proteins in cells. Her goal is to understand how molecules work together to keep the cell healthy.
